de Gournay wallpaper is one of those materials in every designer's "dream" toolbox. To have the opportunity to use it in a clients home, or dare I say it, their own space, is a definite fantasy come true.
The beautiful colors and feminine design scream luxury. I can't even imagine the amount of time it takes artists to hand paint each and every panel that end up wrapping a room in timeless beauty.
I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the custom design Grant K. Gibson commissioned for a teenage girl's room in the Elle Decor Showhouse.
What I especially love about these images is the way a classic element like de Gournay wallpaper is successfully combined with modern items to give the space a current vibe. I'm sure Gibson will do the same, especially since I caught a glimpse of zebra covered padded headboards to be included in the space. Proof that classic doesn't have to be stuffy.

Cafiero Select.
David Cafiero did an amazing job on the Dolby / Frist Hamptons home. I love that he's not afraid of pattern, and certainly not afraid of mixing them in the same space. His rooms look pulled together and beautiful, but interesting and collected over time. He makes the homes look cozy, like the perfect retreat for the world traveler who inevitably lives there and brings back all the unique home decor treasures it contains.
Love this living room Cafiero designed for Chloe Sevigny. Those couches make me smile from ear to ear.
This hallway would be the perfect welcome home every time!
This bathroom is equal parts elegant and fun.
And here are a few of the model spaces he created for Truffles Tribeca, an uber stylish apartment building in Tribeca.
Visit his website here and see more of his work as well as images of his East Village antique shop, Cafiero Select. Can't wait to visit next time I'm in New York City!

Speaking of Dolby and Frist...
Who can forget their Hamptons home as seen in the June/July 2010 edition of Lonny.
I can honestly say it's one of those rare examples of a home that I could move into exactly as is. As in, I wouldn't change a thing, even the details (especially the details). As in, I'd be the happiest person ever to live there. As in, designer David Cafiero might be my decorating soul mate. Stay tuned for a post all about Cafiero's other projects tomorrow.

One Kings Lane.
One Kings Lane, a home decor online shop open only to members, offers weekly Tastemaker Tag Sales which feature a collection of wonderfully curated items. Designers, artists, writers, and collectors alike host these sales and the products are always sure to please. A recent sale hosted by writers Tom Dolby and Drew Frist was no different.
Products had a classic, yet playful feel. The cohesive collection called out to me and I couldn't help but think how much character and style these would add to a boys room. Handsome and homey all at the same time. Here were some of the beautiful items:
It's easy to register and become a One Kings Lane member, simply sign up here and let the fun begin!
But hurry, sales only last for 72 hours and products go fast! Sadly, just about everything had the dreaded "Sold Out" tag on it before I had a chance to check it all out.

Beirut is for lovers.
My heart definitely started beating a little faster when I stumbled across images of Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab's Paris and Beirut homes on Shelter. Both are designed by Chakib Richani, also of Lebanese descent. My boyfriend is Lebanese and his parents and many family members grew up in villages outside of Beirut. To say I can't wait to go and see Lebanon with my own eyes would be a huge understatement. After seeing these highlights of Lebanese architecture and interiors, I'm even more excited to go!
While Saab's Parisian home is stunning...
his Lebanese home really stole my heart.
The white is clean, yet warm.
And the moorish architectural details left me speechless.
It exudes such a casual, effortless elegance.
I would do just about anything to enjoy my morning coffee outside in paradise.

Quadrille love.
Quadrille Fabrics are absolutely beautiful. They have this worldly, eclectic characteristic to them, but remain fresh, luxurious, and contemporary. I would gladly use any one of their many fabrics in my own home. They come in a range of gorgeous colors, and are on trend without being trendy. Quadrille fabrics have a timeless quality that can add class and sophistication to any space, while remaining modern and light. Here are a few of my favorites.
A flawless color combination, the Paradise Background in raspberry along with turquoise walls is youthful enough for this stylish toddler's bedroom but classic enough that it will grow with her throughout the years.
I love the idea of lining cabinets or drawers with something beautiful, but this seems almost too pretty to hide! With the help of Java Java in New Shrimp on Tint, who knew a medicine cabinet could leave you so happy?
Kazak in Orange Pale Magenta on Tint is stunning. Eddie Ross nailed it, as usual, with his use of Kazak - truly dining in style!
Ruthie Sommers used it in her own bedroom. Love how the orange in the Contessa fabric is drawn out by the orange lacquered dresser. Be still my heart.
And the last one, just for fun, Philip Gorrivan for Quadrille Fabrics and Wallpapers. Talk about eye candy!
For some more Quadrille love, check out Heather Clawson's rundown on Habitually Chic.

Good things come in small packages, like diamonds and dynamite.
Too many people are afraid to go "big" in a small space. What might be overwhelming or too much in a large room fits just right within four tiny walls. Small spaces send out the perfect invitation for high style, hoping after a good dose of bold design the may proclaim, "I am small, but I am mighty."
Here are some small spaces brimming with style.
Love the collection of bird art huddled on this powder room wall.
Instead of going with small art in a small space, one large piece can make a huge impact.
Love these high imapact wallpapers for an unexpected pop of pattern in a hallway.
Closets are a great little place to go big.

First I ecognized that you were very clever.
Wouldn't this be adorably romantic hung over a newlyweds' bed. It's A List of Aline Bernstein's Good Qualities written by husband Eero Saarinen. Although they were only married 8 years before Saarinen's sudden death, it is rumored they fell in love instantly upon meeting.
I couldn't help but be inspired by this sweet little note. Since the letter is a bit feminine with the pink writing, I decided to include more masculine, moody colors for the palette of the space, perfect for a cozy bedroom. The accessories also lean to the masculine side, except for the headboard and chair which are decidedly feminine. Good design, just like any solid relationship, is all about balance and compromise.
Black and white photos finish off the space, adding even more character and personality to an already rich bedroom. Vintage black and whites are quirky and work well, but personal images should be added and would fit in perfectly!
