Closet Half Way Point.

Incase you forgot the before...

Here's a bit of the after. It still needs quite a bit of zhushing and styling, but so much better than the before.

The IKEA system is wonderful. I love how easy it was to customize and create exactly the set up you're after.
It's so nice having a space to see everything finally- I feel like my clothes have always been all over the place (and the floor). But even if you don't have a walk-in closet, you could install a set exactly like mine above along a wall of a bedroom and curtain off the whole thing. I wish I had done this in my apartment with a small closet.
Remember that cedar wall I was excited (and nervous) to install? Well it worked! It looks great and imparts texture, character, and the faint smell of cedar. Win, win, and win.
Don't mind the white peaking through. We still need to fill a few gaps.

We have a nook in one corner that has drawers. I love these things. They're on the shallow side so each drawer is filled with one type of clothing and there isn't wasted space.
Scarved in one, shorts in another, unmentionables neatly organized in a third.

A Before So Bad It Gets Its Own Post.

You'll never believe what's living within these four walls now. So much better than that Pepto-Bismol pink explosion of a bathroom!

...call this comfy, cozy closet your own. Exposed brick walls, white cabinetry, plush carpet underfoot, and a spot for everything- getting ready in here would be such a treat.

Home Tour: Jewel Box Closet.

Welcome to my closet (and apologies for those of you who've been waiting)! Technically it is a walk-in closet, if by walk-in you mean I can take little under three full steps. But something about this closet's tiny size made me want to go all out with my decor choices. Hermes orange walls? Check. Gold bamboo mirror? Check. Like a poem, each element had to pack a powerful punch. This area carved out for clothes and all things girlie proves the saying true, "Good things come in small packages, like diamonds and dynamite." Decide for yourself!

(The dresser I had growing up-- now painted-- works perfectly in this closet. The white lightens up the Hermes orange walls and shows off the girly curves. Enough space underneath to house a few of my go-to pairs of shoes.)

(A photo of Marilyn inspires me to add at least one glam detail to my outfit every morning.)

(Tea cups found at a garage sale for $1 each are the prettiest receptacles for lipgloss. I seriously have to hide my giddiness sometimes at these sales out of fear that the oblivious owner will snap out of their style-void-coma, realize just how beautiful their items are, and no longer sell them to me.)

(Some of my most prized possessions. Vintage clutches in a cloth basket busting at the seems.)

(I'm not sure if it's because orange is my favorite color or if I'm a little crazy, but the paint color seems to act as a neutral and compliments any color garment I place in the space.)

Closet Inspiration.

Glad it's been 5 minutes and I'm already dying for a break. I'm only allowing myself a five minute distraction, and then back to work. Here's what's keeping me motivated.

Love the attention to detail in all of the above images. The Tory Burch bags are a creative way to add some color to a neutral closet. Bags hung along the top of the closet = genius. And don't even get me started on that orange lacquered accessory console. Total swoon!

Mission Organize Closet.

I was out and about today running errands, picking up paint samples, looking for fabrics for various projects, collecting color inspiration, and sourcing furniture. I would still be out, should still be out, but then this started.


After watching car after car spin out, I decided it as time to head home. Looks like I'll be snowed in the rest of the day. Maybe it'll force me to do something about my closet that currently looks like a cross between this and this.
