Sweet Surprise: Kerry Cassill.

Monday was such a sweet day. We headed into Laguna to oogle at too-expensive houses, soak up the sun, and experience the charm of the artistic and quaint town. It was perfect just the way it was, but it got even better when we passed a little shop that caught my eye. I saw the trademark saying "One Part Clouds, Two Parts Sunshine, Wish You Were Here" posted on the window and instantly knew that Kerry Cassill fabric lived there. I could barely contain my excitement.

After rooftop Mojitos, we headed over to Lala A Kerry Cassill Boutique, where I was even more blown away than I expected to be. The shop itself was gorgeous, boasting endless amounts of California sun. It was dripping with the most beautiful Indian print blocked fabrics and other Cassill products. The fabric is so soft and inviting, the kind you want to wrap up in. Stylized florals in the prettiest colorways. Eclectic-meets-modern prints. It's one of those lines where choosing a favorite is impossible! The patterns work together in the most magical way.

I only got a few photos but just had to share them with all of you. If you find yourself in the area (or are lucky enough to live there), it's a must-see!

I'm leaving in a few minutes to pick up these (future) beauties.

I can't wait to get my hands on them and give that much needed TLC they are crying out for. "Please paint us a beautiful bright color!" "And add some fabric or pretty paper to our shelves!" Here are some combos I'm considering.

If This Sounds Weird, That's Because It is.

I don't know why, but I love seagulls. I loved them when I was little.


I've taken so many pictures of them through the years growing up.


For my birthday a month ago, my sweet boyfriend took me to this place on Lake Erie where millions of them congregate during cold winter days. I've driven by this spot on the Shore Way since I was a little girl and have always wanted to stop, but never have. The day was simply lovely.


I even bought a vintage shot of them after stumbling upon it at a local antique shop.


I get that they're not the most obviously beautiful creatures. And I know they're dirty and considered a pest to most. But when a giant flock of them takes flight, I can't help but be mesmerized by the sight.

Imagine how happy I was when I finally got my hands on a sample of this fabric by Thom Filicia at Calico Corners (also for Kravet).

From far away, it simply looks like a graphic pattern. It's not until a closer inspection it reads as seagulls. And they're not garish or cheezy. Just beautiful and subtle seagulls.

I found a set of four chairs for my dining room this past summer and they're still in the same sad condition I found them - covered in a dreadful red velvet, but at $5 a chair, I couldn't resist. I hadn't been able to decide what fabric I wanted to cover them in. I was looking for something that had personality but was neutral at the same time. This fabric seems to fit the bill perfectly. Finally they'll be refurbished and looking good as new.



Now I'm off to return the seagull sample and place my order!

Quadrille love.

Quadrille Fabrics are absolutely beautiful. They have this worldly, eclectic characteristic to them, but remain fresh, luxurious, and contemporary. I would gladly use any one of their many fabrics in my own home. They come in a range of gorgeous colors, and are on trend without being trendy. Quadrille fabrics have a timeless quality that can add class and sophistication to any space, while remaining modern and light. Here are a few of my favorites.



A flawless color combination, the Paradise Background in raspberry along with turquoise walls is youthful enough for this stylish toddler's bedroom but classic enough that it will grow with her throughout the years.



I love the idea of lining cabinets or drawers with something beautiful, but this seems almost too pretty to hide! With the help of Java Java in New Shrimp on Tint, who knew a medicine cabinet could leave you so happy?







Kazak in Orange Pale Magenta on Tint is stunning. Eddie Ross nailed it, as usual, with his use of Kazak - truly dining in style!


Ruthie Sommers used it in her own bedroom. Love how the orange in the Contessa fabric is drawn out by the orange lacquered dresser. Be still my heart.
