Take A Look.

Here's our powder room!
Remember the mural I did? Well the long hours paid off. You don't know how good it feels when people ask me about the "wallpaper" in the powder room!
This room began it's life as a closet. Our foyer had two identical coat closets and we decided to convert this one into a half bath to up our count from one full bath to 1.5 now. Here is what it looked like mid-demolition.

A total mess. Here are some of the steps it took to get the powder room up and running where it is now.

We had to bump the walls out a few feet each way. My office became a bit smaller because of the addition, but we gained a powder room and the foyer became larger as a result.

This space truly was a labor of love. I painted the mural. I laid the subfloor. I installed and grouted the tile. These little hands were busy and in desperate need of a manicure, but it was all worth it. It saved a lot of money and I have a special place in my heart for this bathroom now.

I am not claiming to be a tile expert, far from actually, but not bad for a first attempt. I will admit I planned on tiling our master bath as well, but after realizing how long this petite space took and how physically demanding it is (honestly harder than you would think) I decided to leave that one for the pros.

I added a graphic punch to the otherwise dark floor. The natural woven waste basket helps soften all the tile.

This pendant was a cheapie from Home Depot. I debated between a clear glass fixture and this one, and am loving the way the dark iron grounds the space. And the powder room is the perfect space for the soft light of an uber cool Edison bulb.

Thanks for stopping by! Many more reveals coming your way soon!

P.S. Do you know how impossible it is to photograph a 4 ft. x 5 ft. space with no natural light? #Notaphotographer Apologies for the grainy quality.

Powder Room Mural Sneak Peak.

I spent all weekend painting away in the powder room at the house. Leaf after leaf after..well, you guessed it. Leaf. But it's almost done and the mural-induced happy dances that ensue after I catch a glimpse of it from the kitchen make the long hours so worth it.

The fixtures are being installed tomorrow, and trim today hopefully, so I'm doing everything in my power to have this baby styled and mural completed to share with you soon! Get excited!

My inspiration for the mural is the beautiful (and insanely expensive) Gracie paper.

Oh how I would love to have the real deal plastered to these walls, or any walls for that matter, but for now the closest I can get to said perfection is a hand painted mural done by moi. Think Gracie a la Heidi. And the more I stare at the completed walls (seriously every time I close my eyes I see white on green branches as this motif is temporarily burned into my retinas) I feel it's a mix between the beloved Gracie and this playful HB half bath:

So what are your thoughts?
Ever done a large scale mural like this before?
Or are you one of the lucky ones with the real Gracie covering your walls?
Ever used it for a client project? Also a dream of mine!
